Michael R. Bouchard is the Chief Security Officer with Janus Global Operations based in the USA. His current duties include oversight of physical, personnel and travel security, investigations, government clearance processing and data security. Under the EU General Data Protection Regulation, he is the designated Data Protection Officer for Janus.
He retired from the Department of Justice, Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) where he served in several key leadership positions such as: Assistant Director, Field Operations, Deputy Assistant Director for Strategic Intelligence and Information, Chief of Arson and Explosives Programs and the Special Agent in Charge, Baltimore Field Division.
During his tenure, he led ATF efforts during several high-profile cases such as the 9/11 attack on the Pentagon, the Beltway Sniper investigation, and ATF’s National Response Teams at the Salt Lake City Winter Olympics.
Prior to joining ATF, he was a police officer. He earned a Master’s of Science degree in National Security Strategy from the National War College, Washington DC, and a Bachelors of Science degree in Fire and Arson Investigation from the University of New Haven. He also attended the Pinnacle General Flag and Officers Course, National Defense University. He is a Certified Protection Professional through ASIS and has served on a variety of positions such as council chair, council vice president, standards and guidelines commission, and has served on its board of directors for the past two years.
